The success of an organization depends on how effectively it is able to create, implement and sustain both short and long term strategic plans.
Our strategic planning work in PK-12 schools is designed to facilitate an understanding of an organization’s specific context, enable it to set viable goals and establish a clear vision for success. The key to effective strategic planning is the ability to “think” strategically, taking into consideration the importance of systems analysis, discovering opportunities and challenges, identifying existing organizational capacity and interests, and being acutely aware of the assumptions, threats and risks inherent in any organization’s process of growth and development.
We, at Romney Associates support, develop and encourage leaders and teams to be practitioners of both the strategic thinking and planning process as a path to making solid decisions and taking productive actions.
How may we help you today?
Effective leadership is the cornerstone of high achieving organizations. In PK-12 schools strong leadership results in greater student achievement, highly skilled teachers and a community that values and promotes learning. In colleges and universities strong leadership facilitates the fulfillment of mission and vision, and assures excellence and equity for faculty, students and staff.
Strong leadership also maintains organizational coherence through a landscape of change, growth, and development.
Romney Associates’ consultants work with current and aspiring leaders to help them develop the broad knowledge base and critical leadership skills needed for success. We increase leaders’ capacity through assessment, systems thinking and planning, coaching, leading from a cross-cultural perspective, team building, decision-making and organizational change.

In a one-to-one relationship between a client and a coach, coaching draws out and develops skills and talents.
The foundation of our leadership coaching process rests upon the establishment of a trusting coach and client relationship. That relationship enables us to work with professionals openly and candidly while developing the skills and knowledge associated with their roles. Through timely questioning and feedback techniques, creating opportunities for reflection and study, and developing challenges designed to promote new learning, Romney Associates moves professionals to higher levels of performance. Our writing coaches help writers build the confidence and skills needed for project completion.

Change takes time! Effective systems change is thorough and involves all levels of the organization.
Staffing, leadership, organizational processes and procedure policies, mission and vision are all part of the process. Our most successful equity work is the result of organizations committing to a full process of assessment and organizational development that can take up to multiple years to accomplish.
Our Just-in-Time Recruitment Workshops, developed in conjunction with LSM Consulting, have for the past seven years, contributed to changing the face of the faculty in several institutions. Four workshops are timed to be delivered at key points in the search calendar. The first workshop covers recruitment. The second workshop focuses on reviewing applications. In the third workshop we help search committees prepare for the campus visit. The final workshop moves to retention strategies, focusing principally on welcoming, mentoring and retention.
Aside from the information presented, a key value of the workshops is the development of a community of practice in which faculty colleagues on search committees come together to share their knowledge and strategies with their peers and build a commitment to diversifying the faculty.
Romney Associates has seven years of experience developing and delivering Teaching for Inclusive Excellence seminars designed to ensure that faculty are prepared to present more diverse content in their courses, create inclusive learning environments, and facilitate difficult conversations on critical issues.
These faculty development seminars are both conceptual and practical, focusing on strategies that are immediately useful in the classroom.

Achieving excellence with equity in education and service delivery is founded in an understanding of cultural commonalities and differences and in an ability to act in culturally affirming ways.
Using the Intercultural Development Inventory (IDI) followed by coaching and professional seminars, Romney Associates helps faculty and staff build the cultural knowledge and cultural humility necessary to effectively meet the needs of their constituents.
